Captain AI
Captain is KronChat's built-in AI assistant. It helps your team respond faster and can handle simple conversations automatically using your knowledge base.
What Captain Can Do
- Suggest replies based on conversation context and your FAQs
- Answer questions automatically using your uploaded documents
- Summarize conversations so agents get instant context
- Draft responses that agents review and send with one click
FAQs
A library of question-and-answer pairs that Captain uses to respond to customers.
Captain can also suggest new FAQs based on patterns it notices in your conversations. When it finds suggestions, a blue banner appears at the top — click Click here to review to approve or dismiss them.
To add an FAQ manually:
- Go to Captain → FAQs
- Click Create new FAQ
- Enter the question and answer
- Click Save
Documents
Upload documents that Captain reads to build its knowledge base. Supported types include URLs, PDFs, and text files.
To add a document:
- Go to Captain → Documents
- Click Create a new document
- Paste a URL or upload a file
- Wait for processing — a few minutes for large files
The more relevant content you add, the more accurately Captain responds.
Playground
Test Captain before going live by sending it sample questions and seeing exactly how it would respond.
Use this to:
- Verify Captain's answers are accurate
- Test edge cases
- Refine your FAQs and documents before enabling Captain on live inboxes
Note: Messages sent in the Playground count toward your Captain credits.
Linked Inboxes
Control which inboxes Captain is active on. Enable Captain on specific inboxes first (recommended when starting out), then expand once you're confident in the responses.
AI Settings
Configure Captain's global behavior — guidelines on how it should respond and guardrails on what topics to avoid.
Important: Captain is an AI model — it may occasionally produce incorrect or incomplete answers. Always review suggestions, especially for sensitive topics like billing or legal matters.
