Knowledge Overview
Knowledge is KronGage's AI-powered document intelligence module. Upload your organisation's documents, policies, reports, and reference material — then ask questions and get precise answers with cited sources, powered by vector search and a knowledge graph.
Accessing Knowledge
Click Knowledge in the KronGage left navigation bar (the book icon). The module has four sections:
| Section | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Chat | Ask questions and get AI answers grounded in your uploaded documents |
| Documents | Upload, manage, and preview your document library |
| Entities | View extracted entities (people, organisations, concepts) from your documents |
| Guidelines | Write behavioural instructions that shape how the AI responds |
Chat — Asking Questions
The Chat tab is an AI assistant that answers questions using only your uploaded documents as its knowledge base.
How to use it:
- Go to Chat
- Select a collection from the dropdown (or use all documents)
- Type your question in the input at the bottom
- The AI returns an answer with cited sources — you can see which document and section it drew from
Example questions:
- "What are the key topics across all my documents?"
- "Summarise the most recent upload"
- "What entities are most frequently mentioned?"
- "How do the concepts in my docs relate to each other?"
Retrieval Modes
The Knowledge module supports four retrieval strategies, selectable at the top of the Chat panel:
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Hybrid | Combines vector similarity and keyword search for best accuracy (default) |
| Local | Vector search only — best for conceptual or semantic questions |
| Global | Knowledge graph traversal — best for relationship and entity questions |
| Naive | Keyword search only — fastest, good for exact term lookups |
Documents
The Documents tab is your document library.
Uploading documents:
- Click Upload (top right)
- Select one or more files (PDF, DOCX, TXT, and other common formats supported)
- The system processes and indexes each document automatically — this may take a moment for large files
Viewing a document:
- Click any document in the list to open a preview panel on the right
- The preview shows the extracted text chunks used for search
- You can download the original file or delete the document from this view
Collections:
Organise documents into collections to scope your chat searches — for example, a "Legal" collection and a separate "Product" collection.
Entities
The Entities tab shows automatically extracted entities from all your documents:
- People and names
- Organisations and companies
- Locations
- Key concepts and topics
Use this to get a high-level map of what your knowledge base covers without reading every document.
Guidelines
The Guidelines tab lets you write plain-language instructions that the AI follows when answering questions. Use this to:
- Define the tone or format of responses (e.g. "Always respond in bullet points")
- Restrict answers to specific topics
- Set a persona (e.g. "You are a helpful HR assistant")
Guidelines apply globally to all Chat sessions in your workspace.
