Guidelines
Guidelines are plain-language instructions that shape how the KronGage AI responds when answering questions in the Chat tab. Write a guideline once and it applies to every query in your workspace.
What Guidelines Do
Without guidelines, the AI answers questions based purely on what it finds in your documents. Guidelines let you add rules on top of that — controlling tone, restricting topics, redirecting specific questions, or adding a persona.
Creating a Guideline
- Go to Knowledge → Guidelines
- Click + New Guideline
- Write your rule using the WHEN / THEN format:
- WHEN — the condition that triggers this rule (e.g. "user asks about pricing or cost")
- THEN — what the AI should do (e.g. "redirect the user to the pricing page and mention that a sales representative can provide a custom quote")
- Set the priority (P1 is highest) and scope (Global or collection-specific)
- Save and activate
Example Guidelines
| WHEN | THEN |
|---|---|
| User asks about pricing or cost | Redirect to the pricing page and offer a custom quote via sales |
| User asks a question not covered by the documents | Say "I don't have information on that — please contact support" |
| Any question is asked | Respond in bullet points, keeping answers under 200 words |
| User asks about a competitor | Do not make comparisons; focus only on KronGage features |
Priority and Scope
- Priority — if multiple guidelines could apply, the highest priority (lowest number) wins
- Global — applies to all Chat sessions across all collections
- Collection-specific — applies only when that collection is selected in Chat
